Kevin is passionate about helping others and improving his community. His wealth of knowledge and undeniable command of the law earns him respect in and out of court rooms.

Law has been Kevin’s calling since he was a young boy. Through personal experience and guidance from his parents, Kevin learned early on that everyone is confronted with challenges and life lessons. Kevin had his share of such challenges, and his current success speaks volumes to the power of second chances. Kevin’s ability to relate to his clients, especially young black males, proves to be important as he helps them turn their lives around.

It is with this purpose that he began training for criminal law at the University of Miami School of Law in 2000. Kevin served on the board of the International Moot Court and interned with the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office, where he successfully tried his first felony case only as a second year student in law school. He also served as a judicial intern for the late Hon. Robert L. Shevin of the Third District Court of Appeals. Kevin was an assistant public defender with the Office of the Public Defender in Jacksonville, where he represented thousands of clients in juvenile, misdemeanor, and felony courts.

Currently, he is the founder and managing partner of the Law Office of Kevin M. Cobbin in Jacksonville, Florida, where his practice areas include criminal, family, and personal injury law.

  • J. Mechelle Herrington, Esq.

J. Mechelle Herrington is a family law attorney practicing in the 4th Judicial Circuit of Florida. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Alabama State University in 2001, and a Juris Doctor degree from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, LA in 2005.

As a law student, Ms. Herrington participated in the Criminal Law Clinic, served as a Teacher’s Assistant for two years, and clerked for various attorneys. After law school, she worked with youth as an elementary school teacher for two years. She then began her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in Jacksonville, FL, where she tried numerous jury trials and handled thousands of cases.

Her experience as a Jacksonville attorney includes criminal, family, and personal injury law. Ms. Herrington has extensive experience in complex cases involving child support, custody, and divorces. She is a true advocate of the criminal justice system and family law court, spending much of her time speaking at various community events to educate individuals about issues surrounding these areas of law.

Ms. Herrington is a member of the Florida Bar, Jacksonville Bar, and the Family Law & Young Lawyer Section of the Florida Bar.

She also serves as a member of the local Neighborhood Accountability Board (NAB), a local organization that aims to resolve criminal incidents in the community through fair participation by all those involved. Ms. Herrington enjoys being with her family and reading in her free time.
